Good recipe by the way. I was looking to recreate a simple fry udon dish I ate regularly in Tokyo. This is it sans the mixed seafood that was included in the Tokyo dish. The okonomiyaki sauce seems to be the missing ingredient.

To calculate calories and nutritional information take the information from the label of each of the ingredients, divide or multiple depending on the serving size on the label and the recipe size, and add them. The total should be divide by the number of servings the recipe supplies.
It is a little work but only needs to be done once.

Dottie, you should not boil them that long. Heat the water until it comes to a rapid boil then put the dango in there (all at the same time). You should boil them until they float plus another 2 or 3 minutes max.

Yum! I didn't have oyster sauce in the house so I substituted mirin mixed with teriyaki sauce and a dash of worcester sauce.

Hello Mai,
I was wondering if you meant tablespoons (tbs) and not teaspoon (tsp). They quite a big difference in size. Thank you. I used to live in Kobe and went to Kyoto once and really liked it.

Annetta, Butter yaki means to grill with butter. When I make butter yaki, I don't like t use too much butter, so I use vegetable oil or olive oil to grill the fish and then add little bit pf butter for the flavor and add some soy sauce or ponzu and salt and pepper. I think there are many ways to cook for butter yaki style.

Your Japanese is excellent! I'm so happy to receive comments from a foreigner! I'm glad you and your friends like Omuraisu. ketchup is the basic sauce for the omuraice but we use cream sauce, tomato sauce, curry and creat new style omuraisu. I will try to make more kinds next time. And as for your Japanese, other way to cook is 他の料理法. not 外の料理方;)

Ariel, it sounds like Sunomono, which is vinegar salad. Mix vinegar, soy sauce, sugar for the dressing, then add vegetables. Cucumber is the most common vegetable to use.

Hi Vanessa,
Mirin is a rice wine like sake, but with a lot of sugar (40-50%) and lower alcohol. There's no substitute that I use, but it's easily found in Asian grocery stores or online.
